Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT): What is it?

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to one thing in the moment without judgment in order to enter into the present with acceptance and equanimity. The opposite of being on "autopilot," mindfulness brings us to a place of stillness and expansion where we have choices about whether to act and how to act. Many psychological treatments employ mindfulness as part of a treatment for anxiety, depression and problems managing moods and emotions. In mindfulness based therapy we learn to take control of our attention and contact our own inner wisdom. By learning to practice every day we become more skilled at managing stress and experience more joy and freedom.
